About the Artist
English Oil Painter
Pod Artist - 2026 Sky Landscape Artist of the Year & RSMA 2024/25
Chris Odgers is a UK-based painter and urban designer whose work bridges observational landscape and marine art with an intuitive, expressive use of oil paint. On this website and Instagram, where he shares a rich archive of plein air and studio oil paintings, Chris presents scenes drawn from everyday life and travel — from Cornish harbours and winter afternoons in Fowey to sun-soaked views in Andalusia — revealing his love of light, weather, and place through bold brushwork and atmospheric colour.
Chris was selected to be a Pod Artist for the 2026 series of Sky Landscape Artist of the Year.
With a background in urban design and a strong interest in how environments shape experience, Chris uses his painting practice to translate the spirit of towns, coastal landscapes and seascapes into evocative compositions. His work has been recognised publicly with selected inclusion in the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) Annual Exhibitions — a respected platform for contemporary representational painting in the UK — marking him as an artist whose work resonates within the marine and landscape tradition.
Today, Chris continues to develop his practice — balancing plein air adventures with studio exploration — and participates in exhibitions and artistic communities that celebrate both contemporary and traditional approaches to oil painting. His art reflects a commitment to capturing the character of place and the play of light, rooted in direct observation and refined through years of disciplined craft.
